In this brief but insightful guide, we'll explore how to choose the perfect piece of original artwork for your loved ones.
From understanding the occasion to setting a budget and finding the right style, we'll cover everything you need to know to make your gift truly unforgettable. Let's dive in and discover the joy of giving art!
1. Choosing the Perfect Occasion:
Think about moments that deserve something special – birthdays, anniversaries, or simply to say "thank you." Original art adds a touch of magic to any celebration, making it unforgettable.
2. Matching Styles and Interior:
Consider the recipient's taste and home decor. Look for pieces that complement their style, whether it's modern, traditional, or eclectic. Imagine how the artwork will fit into their space and bring it to life.
3. Exploring Diverse Styles:
Don't be afraid to explore! From vibrant abstracts to serene landscapes, there's something for everyone. Think about what emotions or memories you want the art to evoke for the recipient. You can even consider how your chosen piece reminds you of the recipient or a memory you shared together, making the gifting all the more magical when there’s a personal meaning to it.
4. Setting a Budget:
Determine how much you're comfortable spending and explore options within that range. Remember, original art doesn't have to break the bank. There are beautiful pieces available at every price point, ensuring you find something both meaningful and affordable.
Consider going frameless. This might feel like a cop out to some, but think of it this way instead… framing is a very personal choice when it comes to width, colour material etc, so picking the wrong frame could be a costly mistake if you get it wrong! Gifting an unframed piece also gives the recipient the opportunity to personalise their gift to complement the space it will adorn for years to come.
Framing can add significantly to the cost of the piece as well as artists will often mark-up framing to cover their costs and time. If you’re going to go frameless, pick a piece in a standard size to make framing as easy as possible for the recipient.

5. Seeking Value Beyond Price:
While cost is important, focus on the value the artwork brings. Original art is a timeless gift that holds sentimental value and can be cherished for years to come. It's a symbol of thoughtfulness and care, making it priceless in its own right.
6. Personalising the Experience:
Add a personal touch by selecting artwork that reflects the recipient's interests, passions, or life experiences. Consider including a handwritten note to convey exactly what your chosen piece and the recipient mean to you.
7. Embracing the Joy of Giving:
Lastly, relish in the joy of giving. There's something incredibly special about presenting someone with a piece of original art – it's a gift that transcends words and leaves a lasting impression.
Remember, gifting original art is more than just giving a present – it's creating a moment of joy and inspiration that will be cherished for a lifetime.
